CNHICLINTON — Elmer R. Greenslade, 87, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center North.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Lyons United Methodist Church, 2118 N. Secon St., Clinton. Pastor Chris Minor-Heilig will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Elmer was born October 4, 1922, in Cresco, Iowa, to Elmer and Annetta (Halverson) Greenslade.
He served with the United States Army during World War II, from 1943 through 1946.
He worked for E.I. DuPont in the lab department, retiring in 1981.
He married Shirley Harris August 9, 1947, in Jackson, Minnesota. She survives him.
He was an active member of Lyons United Methodist Church since 1952; he also was a member of the Eagles Club and the Odeon.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Clinton; 2 daughters, Connie Andrews of Albany, Ill., Lynn (Gary) Dalaska of Cordova, Ill.; 2 grandsons, Daka, and his wife, Patty, of Port Byron, Ill., Triston and his wife, Amanda, of Cordova, Ill.; 4 great-grandchildren, Landon and Jade Dalaska of Cordova, Ill., Carson and Mya Dalaska of Port Byron, Ill.; 2 brothers, Robert Greenslade of Clinton and Don Greenslade of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
