CLINTON — Catherine A. Griffin, 92, of Clinton, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to the service time at the funeral home. Catherine A. Petersen was born on May 21, 1917, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Dora (Thomsen) Petersen. She married Charles Allesee in Clinton in 1939. She later married Glenn Griffin on March 3, 1959, in Sisseton, South Dakota. Catherine was a 1935 graduate of Clinton High School. Catherine was a homemaker. She was also a clerk at Van Allen's Department Store and a dance instructor at L and L Studio. Catherine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eagles Club, and Women of the Moose. Catherine is survived by her husband, Glenn of Clinton; a son, Charles (Julie) Allesee of Clinton; a daughter, Judy (Mike) Gray of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a step-son, Robin (Joyce) Griffin of Tacoma, Washington; 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a cousin, Carman Thomson of Low Moor, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Petersen of Fulton, Illinois. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.
