Vern Schaefer 07/31/2002 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Vern E. Schaefer, Clinton, will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Lemke Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Ill. Clinton AMVETS will conduct military services at the burial. Visitation is 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Schaefer died July 26, 2002, at SunBridge Nursing Home, Avondale, Ariz. He was employed as a floor installer at Kennedy Floor Covering, Clinton. He was born Aug. 17, 1926, in Braddock, N.D. He married Helen Pardee in 1964 in Morrison, Ill. She died in 1988. During the Korean War, he served with the Army at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include a son, Brian, El Mirage, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Daniele Tenboer, Morrison, Ill.; six step-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Rickertsen, DeWitt, Emily Weber, of Texas, Kathryn Cousins, Clinton, Esther Hunn, of the Twin Cities, Minn., and Martha Suppan, Bloomington, Minn.; and brother, Edwin, Clinton.
