FULTON, Ill. — Dorothy L. Wierenga, 69, died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at her residence. Dorothy was born August 8, 1940, in Hardin, IL the daughter of Harry and Mary (Ansell) Gresham. She married Arlen "Bud" Wierenga on February 16, 1968 in Fulton, IL. He survives. She was employed by Fulton Corp. for 33 years, retiring in 2002. After her retirement she worked part time at the Wilson Building, Clinton, IA as the elevator operator. Survivors include her husband, Bud of Fulton, IL; a daughter, Donna Varner of Cedar Rapids, IA; a son, Barak Wierenga of Fulton, IL; a sister, Clara (Harry) Kiel of Hardin, IL; a brother, Jack (Marcy) Gresham of Zenia, OH; 5 grandchildren, Nick Wierenga, Jami Basala, and Ryan, Chad and Don Varner; 5 great grandchildren, Bayleigh Wierenga, Evan Senneff, Ava Basala and Tailor and Cash Varner.She is preceded in death by her brother, Donald Gresham.A gathering of friends will be from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 27, 2009 in the McDonald Funeral Home, Fulton, IL. A memorial to the American Cancer Society has been established. Cremation rites have been accorded.
