MORRISON, Ill. — Irvin M. Workman, 87, of Morrison, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL. The Rev. Philip Stel, pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL, with graveside military funeral honors. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL.He was born November 11, 1921, in Morrison, IL, to Lewis and Mary (Naakteboren) Workman.Irvin was educated in the McElrath School of rural Whiteside County and was a 1940 graduate of Morrison High School, Morrison, IL. He married Lorraine Smith on September 15, 1943, in Morrison, IL; she survives. He served in the U. S. Army serving during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. Irv was first employed by Brands Heating, Morrison, IL, until 1949 when he and his wife, Lorraine, established Workman Heating and Air Conditioning in Morrison. In 1960, he expanded the business to include plumbing. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL, and served as an usher many years. Irvin was also a member of Morrison American Legion Post 328. He enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. Survivors include Lorraine, his wife of 66 years; two sons, Jim (Diane) Workman of Morrison, IL, and Bob (Vicky) Workman of Morrison, IL; four grandchildren, Jeff (Michele) Workman, Michael Workman; Todd (Pam) Workman, Tami (Brian) Hedgren; eight great-grandchildren, Jaeden and Chase Workman; Kyle, Seth and Malerie Workman; Austin, Eric and Brea Hedgren.He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pearline Vegter; one brother, Louis Workman.To send online condolences go to www.bosmarenkes.com.Death date: Sept. 15, 2009
