FULTON, Ill. — Asle B. "Bud" Olson, age 93, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday Aug. 19, 2009, at Mercy North Medical Center, Clinton. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Pape Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be held at Marion Lutheran Cemetery in Gunder, IA. Asle was born on April 27, 1916, in Ossian, IA, the son of Lucas and Emma (Askelson) Olson. He married Elaine Christensen on Nov. 4, 1942, in Waterloo, IA. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.He worked as a millwright at Rath Meat Packing Plant in Waterloo for 38 years, retiring in 1978. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, his horses, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Bud is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Fulton, IL; two daughters, Judith Power of Garden Plain, IL, and Cynthia Olson of Rockford, IL; six grandchildren, Tracy, Brian, Lori, Christina, Sara and Michael; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Belva Lantz of Columbus, OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis in 2004; a granddaughter, Elaina in 2008; and three brothers.Death date: Aug. 19, 2009
