DEWITT — Virginia B. Schreiber, 88, of DeWitt, formerly of Clinton, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Westwing Place Nursing Facility, DeWitt. A memorial service is being planned for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Lemke Funeral Homes- South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Hospice or the VNA. Virginia was born April 28, 1921, in Andrew, Iowa, to John and Mary (Hosee) Miller. She graduated from Andrew High School in 1939. She married Alvin Schreiber on October 4, 1941, in Missouri; he passed away August of 1975. She worked at Klines, Locks Dry Cleaning and was a domestic engineer. She was of the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed reading, fishing, mushroom and berry hunting in the Springdale Cemetery; she also enjoyed gardening. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Wendel of DeWitt, IA.; 1 son, Larry (Judy) Schreiber of Thomson, IL; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, John Miller of Independence, MO, and Glenn (LaVonne) Miller of Maquoketa, IA.Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; granddaughter, Melissa Schreiber; 1 sister; 2 brothers; son in-law, Dick Wendel.
