The Clinton Herald Friday July 7, 1978 p. 14 William H. Schrum, 70, of Great Falls, Mont., formerly of Clinton, died Sunday in Columbus Hospital, Great Falls. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Karl Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made through Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Emil Matthiesen, Emmet Matthiesen, Dr. Burton Wilcke, Paul Paulson, Janvrin Mitchell and Clifford Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Dilman Wilson and Dale Crockett. Mr. Schrum was born and reared in Clinton, the son of William and Agnes Matthiesen Schrum. He moved to Chicago in 1928, where he was employed by Swift and Company. He was transferred to Havana, Cuba, in 1936, where he served as branch manager until 1941. He was transferred to Panama City as manager of the company's branch there, and in 1950 was promoted to manager of Swift and Company's European operation. In 1957, he became manager of the German branch with headquarters in Hamburg, retiiring in 1969 and moving to Greqt Falls. He married Helen Patterson in 1950 in Zurich, Switzerland. He was a past master of the Anglo-Hanseatic Lodge of Hamburg, and past provincial secretary of the British Lodges in Germany. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and Shriners of Great Falls. Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Dorothea K. Schrum of Washington, D.C., and Marion M. Schrum of Laramie, Wyo.; and two brothers, Jerome A. and Marvin E., both of Clinton. He was preceded in death by a sister.
