The Clinton Herald Saturday December 7, 1946 p. 8 John Howard Schrum, 57, Clinton resident for 30 years, died of a heart ailment at 8 a.m. today in his home at 438 Third avenue, South. He had been in ill health for 15 years. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Snell funeral home where the body will repose to friends beginning Sunday. Full milatary rites will be rendered by the combined veterans organizations. The Rev. C.E. Thompson, pastor of the Full Gospel tabernacle, will officiate, and interment will be in Springdale cemetery. Mr. Schrum was born July 30, 1889, in Fenton, Ill., the son of Claus and Elvira Schrum. He was married to Anna Greve, who died shortly after, and on Dec. 24, 1930, he married Mrs. Claudia Jordan. A former employee of Clinton Industries, Inc., he was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Full Gospel tabernacle and June Van Meter post 190, American Legion. Survivors are his widow, three sisters, Mrs. August Hermann, Clinton; Mrs. Homer Cleveland, DeWitt, and Mrs. Ed Henningsen, Estherville; one brother, Henry Schrum, Clinton; four step-daughters, Mrs. Floyd Stage, Geneseo, Ill.; Mrs. James Moore, Mrs. Leonard Leslie and Mrs. Thomas Archer, all of Clinton; three step-sons, Harold and Clyde Jordan, both of Clinton, and Floyd Jordan, Beloit, Wis. Besides his first wife, his parents preceded him in death.
