GRAND MOUND — Harry W. "Billy" Waack, 85, Grand Mound, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Harry William Waack was born February 5, 1924, on the family farm in rural Grand Mound, Iowa, son of Harry and Catherine (Flynn) Waack. He graduated from St. Ann's Catholic School in Grand Mound. Billy was a member of SS. Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, where he was baptized and confirmed. Billy farmed the family farm, which had been in the family for over 100 years. He retired in September 2006 from farming but continued to live there until October 2008. Surviving include his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Marcella Waack; six nephews and two nieces. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Lloyd and Leo Waack; and two nephews, Warren and Dennis Waack. Family and friends may visit Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009. A Scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009, at SS. Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound. Pallbearers will be Cory Waack, Jamie Waack, Nicole Waack, Charles Hunter, Billie Martin and Charles Hunter.
