ALBANY, Ill. — Joseph Allen Vilmont, 70, of Albany, IL, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. A memorial service is being planned for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Raymond Ruppenkamp will be officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date. Pallbearers will be Gary Murphy, Emmett Theissen, Paul Jackson, Tom Dinneen, Ray Michelson, Jim Wareham and Phil Lemke. Joseph Allen Vilmont was born July 18, 1939, in Clinton County to Floyd and Lois (Anglese) Vilmont. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1957. Joseph married the former Kay (Dolan) on April 15, 1961, at St. Mary's in Clinton. They later divorced. Joseph worked at International Paper/Lord Baltimore. He and his wife, Kay, opened and operated Vilmont Real Estate, he also worked for several years in the antique business. He was very athletic and ran track in high school; he did the shot put and the discus. He also enjoyed football, played varsity all 4 years in high school. He was a member of the Real Estate Association. Joseph had quite a sense of humor and his friendships were truly important to him. He will be sadly missed by his family and his friends. Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Vilmont of Des Moines, Ia.; 2 sons, Mark Vilmont, of Clinton; Matt (Leona) Vilmont of Davenport, Ia.; 1 grandson, Zackary Vilmont of Erie, Ill.; 1 sister, Sandy (Henry) Arkenberg of Clinton; 3 brothers, Tom (Karen) Vilmont of Washington, Ia.; Charles (Sue) Vilmont and Vern (Sandra) Vilmont, both of Clinton.
