CLINTON — Clair B. Adams, 95, of Clinton, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus St. Edwards Council: Mark Mangin, Bart Vander Bleek, Ed Ford, Jim Horst, Al Debo, Mike Yackshaw. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Clair B. Adams was born on October 29, 1913, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of George and Florence (Kennedy) Adams. He was educated at St. Mary's School and Clinton High School. Clair was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II from 1942 until his retirement in 1968 as a Master Sergeant. He was a decorated veteran. He was employed at the Clinton Corn Company, Royal Cloak Company, Bell's Café, Yellow Cab Company and Gibson Dry Cleaners. Clair was a lifetime member of Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Parish and a lifetime member of the St. Edward's Council Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the VFW, the Clinton AMVETS, American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Association of the United States Army. Clair enjoyed golfing and was a former member of the Fulton Country Club. His "coffee call" at various restaurants brought him much joy. He was a former member of the Clinton Moose Club. Clair had lived at the Eagle Point Nursing Home since May 2004. He is survived by special friends, Jeff, Dawn, Ryan and Emily Schuetzle, Allison, Doug and Sophie Schultz all of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William "Marv" Adams. Memorials may be made to the Eagle Point Nursing Home.
