MORRISON, Ill. — Elizabeth D. Gehring, 86, of Morrison, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL. The Rev. Michael Selburg, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2009, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded.Memorials may be made to the Whiteside Forum.She was born December 28, 1922, in Morrison, IL, to Lloyd and Ruth (Anderson) Durward Sr. Elizabeth was educated in the Cobb Grade School of rural Whiteside County and graduated from Morrison High School, Morrison, IL. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and a Master's of Education from the University of Missouri at St. Louis. She married W.E. "Bill" Gehring on June 19, 1948, in Morrison, IL; he died January 25, 1998. Liz started her teaching career at the Malvern School of rural Morrison, IL. She went on to teach and served as guidance counselor for several different school districts including the Savanna School system, most recently the Edwardsville High School, Edwardsville, IL. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL, and the United Presbyterian Women's Association. Liz was member of the Morrison Historical Society, Whiteside Forum, PEO and the Morrison Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Liz was an avid gardener, enjoyed her membership in local book clubs. Survivors include two sons, Durward James Gehring of Chicago, IL, Douglas William Gehring of Chelan, WA; one sister, Marilyn Gammon of Orlando, FL; nieces, Ruth (Mike) Hardin, Sarah (Matthew Specht) Hardin; Elaine (John) Bay, Deborah (Paul) Beck, Lynne (Bob Louiseu) Durward; nephews, Stephen Hardin; Dave Robertson, Jeff Robertson, Michael Robertson; Gregory (Katrina) Gammon; Bruce Durward, John Durward. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W.E. "Bill" Gehring; two sisters, Inez Jo Robertson and Marjorie Hardin; one brother, Lloyd S.
