CAMANCHE — Leo A. Dann, age 90, of Camanche, died Wednesday Aug. 5, 2009 at his daughter's home in Clinton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Clinton, with the Rev. Sue Eades officiating. Visitation will be held Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery.The Clinton AMVETS will conduct military honors. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Dana and Derek Powell, and Ronald Leeper, and nephews, William, David, and Aaron Criddle. Leo was born on Dec. 19, 1918 in Savanna, IL, the son of Samuel and Pearl (Schofield) Dann. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 during WWII. He married Berniece "Molly" Brown on Sept. 27, 1940, in Clinton; she died in 1973. Leo worked as a manager at A and P Grocery Store for many years and maintenance at Scott Community College. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and Clinton AMVETS, American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and woodworking. Leo is survived by his daughter, Dixie Leeper of Clinton; four grandchildren, Dana (Cheri) Powell, Derek (Nancy) Powell, Ronald (Lisa) Leeper, and Linda (Jeff) Chapman; two stepgrandchildren, Tammy Kirgan and Kathy Christiansen; 12 great-grandchildren, Brian, Riley, Isaac, and Dayton Powell, Robert Powell, Lindsey, Sean, Kimberly, Lukas Leeper, Jordan, Jakob, and Molly Chapman; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Megan and Amanda Hatfield; three great-great-grandchildren, Bentley and Gracie Brown, and Alexia Powell; a brother, Herbert Dann of Charlotte, NC; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
