Overkamp, Robert C.

CLINTON — Robert C. Overkamp, age 90, of Clinton, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24th at the Pape Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.

Robert was born in Lyons, Iowa on June 4, 1919, the son of Charles F. and Florence E. Salutz Overkamp. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1937. Robert was a veteran of W.W.II. He served with the Army Air Corp in North Africa and the European Theater. He married June Brown on June 6, 1956 in Rock Island, IL. June died in 1999. Robert was employed at Clinton Corn Processing Company from 1945 until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the 25 Year Club at Clinton, and an original member of the AMVETS. He was a licensed pilot who not only loved to fly but had built his own airplane. He enjoyed golfing, NASCAR and watching NASA TV from the computer.

Robert is survived by four sons; James (Delores) Dorsey of Dahlonga, GA, Dale Dorsey of Clinton, David Overkamp of Clinton and Alan (Jodi) Overkamp of DeWitt; two daughters; Julie Overkamp and Ann (Steve) Jordan both of Clinton; 13 grandchildren, Corey Dorsey, Shanna Hollon, Eric Dorsey, Matt Dorsey, Kiley Rife, Jonathan Overkamp, Cody Jordan, Samantha Jordan, Lindsey McMahon Brittney McMahon and Mikayla Overkamp; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, June, a son, Mike in 1997, and three sisters.
