CLINTON — Jack S. Harris, 81, of Clinton, died Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Mercy Living Center South in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31st at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Following the services, cremation rites will be accorded. Jack was born in Clinton, Iowa, on July 1, 1928, the son of Samuel and Jeanette Sivertsen Harris. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1947. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1950. Jack married Marilyn A. Sheridan on May 31, 1952, in Clinton. Jack was employed at E.I. DuPont from 1951 to 1992. He worked in the Control Lab and in 1974 became coating foreman. Jack was a member of the AMVETS, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, traveling to the West coast and being with his dog "Beau."Jack is survived by his wife Marilyn; three children, Debra (Tim) Geiger of Clinton, Stephan Harris of LaPorte, CO, and David A. (Martha) Harris of Fulton; four grandchildren, Thomas and Zachary Geiger and Jonathan and Rachel Harris; a sister, Merilyn Obermiller of Camanche; and a brother, Robert R. (Kathy) Harris of Tenants Harbor, Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Kitteringham. Memorials may be made to the Fulton Presbyterian Church or Mercy Medical Center.
