CLINTON — Wrapped in the love of four generations of his family, Kurt Robert "Bob" Chalgren, Sr. age 90, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 peacefully and without pain. The family is so thankful for his faith and for theirs. They are grateful for his 90 years of life, and the fact that for the last 8 months in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he was surrounded by the love from four generations of his family. Born on April 11, 1919 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, he was the son of the late Algot and Elna (Soderstrom) Chalgren. He attended schools in Fort Dodge and lived in Clinton, Iowa, most of his adult life. On June 30, 1941, he was united in marriage to Irene A. "Annie" Reisner. From 1942 to 1945 during World War II, Bob honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served active duty in the European Theater and was stationed in France, Belgium, and Germany. Bob was employed by E. I. DuPont Cellophane Company in Clinton for 33 years. He is survived by his son, Kurt R. (Barbara L.) Chalgren, Jr., a grandson, Derek J. (Vanessa Chambers) Chalgren; a granddaughter, Kirstin A. (Robert) Glinski; and four great-grandsons, Quentin D. Gitzlaff, Austin J. Chalgren, Nathan R. Glinski and Jacob M. Glinski, many nieces and nephews and by his dear friend, Dorothy Oakes. We know he is in heaven with his wife, Irene, his brothers, Eric and John, his sister, Iris, with his parents and with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. with visitation proceeding at 1 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, Clinton, Iowa. Interment with full military honors will follow in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements. Death date: July 9, 2009.
