FULTON, Ill. — Donald L. Shepard, 66, of Fulton, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at his home after a long courageous battle with illness. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Stanley Bomgarden, pastor of Fulton Presbyterian Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded.Memorials will be established.He was born May 22, 1942, in Morrison, IL, to Fred and Goldie (Williams) Shepard. He was educated in Morrison grade schools and attended Morrison High School.He married Cherie L. Stunden on Jan. 10, 1976, in Fulton, IL; she survives. Don was a foreman at Climax Foundries in Clinton, IA. Don was most recently employed by Alcoa in Bettendorf, IA, for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Don enjoyed fishing, camping and his beloved dog, Midgie. Don also enjoyed spending time at the casino. Survivors include his wife, Cherie, Fulton, IL; five daughters, Kellie Frederick of Clinton, IA, Lori Smith of Morrison, IL, Krista (Dave) Gibson of Clinton, IA, Patricia Brown of Clinton, IA, and Cherie Hernandez of Clinton, IA; one son, Keith Shepard of Polo, IL; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Linda Kohl of Fulton, IL, Penny Burridge of Fulton, IL, and Sally Mitchell of Chicago, IL; one brother, Robert (Beverly) Shepard of Fulton, IL; and his beloved dog, Midgie.
