ERIE, Ill. — Mary Catherine Mask, 92, of Erie, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Erie. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or the Harbor Crest Home.Mary was born February 5, 1917, in rural Lincoln Township, Iowa, the daughter of Christopher T. and Mary (Mae) E (Malloy) Cavanaugh. She was united in marriage with William L. Mask on May 13, 1936, in Blessing, Iowa. He died on May 23, 1996. She was a devoted wife and mother. After her family was raised, she worked for some time at General Electric, Morrison.Survivors include one sister, Agnes Beeker of Artesia, N.M.; one daughter, Marilyn (Tom) Lyons, Clinton; daughter-in-law, Barbara Mask, Fulton; four sons, Paul (Diana) Mask, Galena, Michael Mask, Milan, John and Phillip Mask, Erie; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Merle, Emmet and Jack Cavanaugh, Florence Jensen, Marian Moran, Dorothy LaMarr, Margaret (Peggy) Andorf and Patricia Duffy; two sons, William and Richard Mask; and one grandson, Scott Mask.The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation for the kindness, love and care given to Mary during her stay at Harbor Crest Nursing Home.Death date: May 27, 2009
