DEWITT — Mr. Wayne R. Cady, 81, DeWitt, died Friday morning, May 29, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He was born August 4, 1927, in Clinton, to Webster and Clara (Burde) Cady. Wayne graduated from Clinton High School and attended the University of Iowa. He entered the Army and served during World War II. Wayne married Lucille Henricksen August 9, 1953. He worked and retired at the Weapons Command at the Rock Island Arsenal following 31 years of service. Wayne was a member of the Eugene McManus American Legion Post No. 238, DeWitt, the VFW and the Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and trips to the cottage in Wisconsin. Wayne and Lucille also enjoyed traveling. Surviving are his loving wife, Lucille; children, Cindy (Garrick) Jessen and James (Melinda) Cady, DeWitt, and Carol Galetka, Sheldon, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Adam, Shari, Andrew and Samantha, Tiffany, Ryan and Mitchell and Kyle, Nathan and Chas; great-grandchildren, Ava and Abe. Preceding Wayne in death were his parents, an infant daughter, Caryn and his brother, Robert. The family will greet friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Lang officiating. Military rites by the American Legion and burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
