The Clinton Herald Saturday September 4, 1915 p. 8 Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Caroline Rathje, an old and respected resident of Clinton county. The deceased passed away at the home of her son-in-law, Louis Saenger, twelve miles north of Lyons, with whom she had made her home for some time. Mrs. Rathje was 67 years of age at the time of her death, and has scores of friends in this city and vicinity, who will be grieved to learn of her demise. Five sons and four daughters are left to mourn her death. Brief funeral services will be held at the L. Saenger home Monday morning at 11 o'clock after which the body will be removed to Oakland chapel. where the funeral sermon will be preached by Rev. Hugo Grimm, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.S
