The Clinton Herald Saturday January 19, 1935 p. 5 Mrs. Minnie Roeder, 81, resident of this city since the early 60's, died at 9:15 o'clock Friday night in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Barney Jacobsen, 3524 Cleveland street, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon with a prayer at 2 o'clock in the home, followed by services at 1:30 o'clock in St. John's Lutheran church. The Rev. John F. Schultz, pastor, will officate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Wilhelmina Speck, a native of Germany, was born June 26, 1853, in Schleswig-Holstein. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany, and came to the United States at the age of 16 years, and direct to Clinton county, where she has lived since. Her marriage to the late Herman Roeder took place in 1871. Seven children were born to this union, a daugther and son, Elizabeth and Henry, died in infancy. Mr. Roeder preceded his wife in death May 12, 1926. Three daughters adn two sons survive her, Mrs. Barney Jacobsen, Mrs. Julius Rathje, Charles Roeder and Louis Roeder of this city and Mrs. John Keil of Fulton, Ill.; eight grandchildren and one great grandson, also two brothers, Claus and Henry Speck of this city.
