CLINTON — Max R. Cree, age 70, of Clinton died Friday, May 8, 2009, at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13th, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton where a memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.Max was born in Charles City, Iowa, on July 8, 1938, the son of Theo and Vivian Putney Cree. Max moved to Clinton in 1965. He married Jeanne Behr Andresen on July 5, 1974, in Charles City. Max was a carpenter with the Clinton Local until 1971 when he owned and operated Cree Roofing and Cree Home Improvement. In 1982, he went to work as a carpenter at ADM and in 1989 joined the Davenport Carpenters Local 4. Following his retirement in 2000, he worked with his wife at the U-Pump Gas Station on Camanche Ave. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Eagles Club, Clinton Bowling Association and the 700 Club. Max enjoyed remodeling his home and was always willing to help others. Max is survived by his wife, Jeanne; six stepchildren, Bill (Dawn) English of Mason City, IA, twins Mark English of Mason City and Kirk (Tracy) English of New Richmond, MN, Sylvia (Mark) Duhr of Clinton, Rhonda (Brian) Kearns of Villa Park, IL, and Clint Andresen of Clinton; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dixie Schaer of Mason City and Patricia (Rodney) Hanson of Clinton; a brother, Donald (Bernice) Cree of Encino, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Max was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Tanner. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.Death date: May 8, 2009
