MUSCATINE — Richard H. Walling, 79, of Muscatine, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Unity Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009, at the Walnut Park Baptist Church, 215 Colorado Street. The Reverend Dennis Hakes will officiate the service. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A funeral luncheon will be held following the committal service at the Walnut Park Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Mission Aviation Fellowship or the Walnut Park Baptist Church. Online condolences for the Walling family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com. Richard was born on February 15, 1930, in Clinton, the son of Herbert Roy and Ruth May Sullivan Walling. He married Joan Patricia Crist Wagner on September 28, 1974, in Clinton. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2002. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He worked as a professional pilot for several companies around the country. He was a life member of the Antique Airplane Association; Experimental Aircraft Association; Vintage Airplane Association; as well as a yearly member of several other sport and general aviation organization. He enjoyed flying both as a vocation and avocation. Survivors include several cousins in the Clinton, Iowa, area. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and twin brothers, David and Donald, at birth. Death date: March 29, 2009
