MILES — Betty Jane (Hansen) Mootz, age 77, of Miles, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue, Iowa after an extended illness. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston with Reverend Gregory Geier officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009, one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Betty's name. Online condolences and memorial tributes may be given to the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com. Betty was born on March 7, 1932, the daughter of Edward and Gladys (McMahon) Reistrofer on their farm in Clinton County. She attended Preston High School and graduated with the Class of 1950. Betty married Paul Hansen on September 15, 1950. Paul died on December 24, 1978. She then married Harold F. Mootz on June 25, 1980. Betty lived and farmed her entire adult life on a farm north of Miles. Betty enjoyed playing cards and bowling. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family. Betty is survived by her husband, Harold Mootz of Miles; three sons, Kenneth Hansen of Clinton, Iowa, Dennis Hansen of Miles, and Donald (Dixie) Hansen of Miles; two step-sons, Terry Mootz of Thomson, Illinois, and John (Jill) Mootz of Clinton, Iowa; two step-daughters, Diane Mootz of Arizona, and Annette (Bobby) Hinsch of Camanche, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jamie, Bradley, Ashley, and Audrey; five step-grandchildren, Adam, Jeffrey, Tyler, Bethany, and Bridget; five great grandchildren; three brothers, Allen (Evelyn) Reistrofer of Camanche, Charles (Delores) Reistrofer of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Donny Reistrofer of Maquoketa; two sisters, Dorothy (George) Beck of Spragueville, Iowa and Lois Tebbe of Bellevue; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; one sister, Jerrine Boyert; one brother, Robert Reistrofer; sister in-law, Judy Reistrofer; brothers in-law, Harold Tebbe, and Emil Boyert; and one niece, Kathy Arterberry. Death date: April 8, 2009
