DEWITT — Marilyn J. (Mrs. Robert) Mangan, 78, DeWitt, died Saturday afternoon, April 18, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. She was born Marilyn Jane Edgar on June 21, 1930, to Ernest and Helma (Keiner) Edgar in Davenport. She graduated from Goose Lake High School and attended the University of Dubuque. On September 22, 1951, Marilyn was united in marriage to Robert Leon Mangan in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. She worked for the Red Cross early in her marriage and then became a homemaker. Bob preceded Marilyn in death June 2, 2006. Marilyn was a member of St. Joseph Parish. She enjoyed many hobbies and was well known for her needlepoint and ceramics. Surviving are children and their spouses, Rick Mangan, and his wife, Gaylene, DeWitt, Sheri Nugent and her husband, Dale, Davenport, and Julie Lawrence and her husband, Tom, Rock Island; grandchildren, Garrett Mangan, Brittany Mangan, Brett Mangan, Megan Nugent, Molly Nugent, Michael Lawrence, and Kelly Lawrence; a sister-in-law, MargEl Mangan, DeWitt. In addition to her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by a son, Phillip, and her parents. The family will greet relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, with burial in the church cemetery.
