LONGWOOD, Fla. — Lynton B. (Bill) Holt, of Longwood, Florida, died peacefully at his home on April 2, 2009, after a long and courageously fought battle against cancer. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Steven Baumann officiating. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. Condolences may be made online at www.banfieldfuneralhome.com.Lynton was born in Clinton, Iowa, on November 12, 1937, to William and Lorraine Holt. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1956 and entered the U.S. Air Force where he served for 21 years. He served as MSGT and became line chief in Vietnam — 67 to 68 — and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was the second youngest ever to achieve the rank of Senior MSGT. He was famous in the collector's world for his toy soldier business, Holt's Hobbies. His WW I figures were collected in Europe and the United States and featured in the movie, "Toys" starring Robin Williams and directed by Academy Award winner Barry Levinson in 1993.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon (Hunter) Holt (CHS '53'); a son, Steven of Alachua, Florida; daughters, Karen (Gerard) Botman of Utrecht, The Netherlands, Kathleen (Drew) Seaton of Winter Springs, Florida, and Debbie (David) Morton of Peru, Indiana. He left seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will miss their loving "PoPo." He is also survived by brothers, Ken (Liz) Holt, Nick (Cindy) Holt; and sister, Sharon (Llyod) Lanning of Clinton, Iowa; brother, Tim Holt of Roy, Utah; along with numerous nieces and nephews; his aunt, Violet Hansen of Clinton; and his best friend for 68 years, brother-in-law, Bob Mayer previously from Clinton, now from Winter Park, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved great-grandfather, John Henry Stoltenberg.Death date: April 2, 2009
