CLINTON — Larry D. Groh, 68, Clinton, IA, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Stephan, Pastor of Second Reformed Church, Fulton, IL will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. Memorials are established at the American Cancer Society and Clinton County Humane Society. Groh was born October 29, 1940 in Clinton, IA to Harold and Clara (Ven Huizen) Groh. He was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1958. He then graduated from Central College in Pella, IA in 1963 with a business degree. He first married Charlene Vos in 1962. He then married Karen Baker on November 29, 1972 in Clinton, IA; she survives. Larry worked for Nielson Clearing House. He owned and operated Porthole in Clinton, IA and Porthole Too in Fulton, IL and Muffins in Fulton, IL. He then worked for Schultz Enterprise as a district manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken. Groh was a member of Second Reformed Church. Larry enjoyed golfing at Buck's Barn in Thomson, IL. Survivors include his wife, Karen, Clinton, IA; three sons, David (Lisa) Groh, Fulton, IL, Craig (Lisa) Abbott, Camanche, IA and Russell Abbott, Clinton, IA; father Harold Groh, Fulton, IL; one brother Leon (Donna) Groh, Fulton, IL; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
