Don Bengtson Sr. 05/10/2002 CAMANCHE, Iowa -- Services for Donald W. Bengtson Sr., Camanche, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Camanche Chapel of Snell-Zornig-Dennis A. Lemke Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche. Military services will be conducted. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Rose Croix service will be conducted there at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Bengtson died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. He was employed as a machinist at Clinton Corn Processing for more than 30 years. He also was employed as a planner and estimator at Rock Island Arsenal for more than 15 years. He retired in 1990. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a colonel after 33 years of service. He also had served on active duty with the U.S. Army and served with the National Guard. He was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Clinton. He married Mary Lesher in 1950 in Clinton. She died in 1991. Memorials may be made to Camanche Fire Department. Survivors include daughters, Kathern Jordan, Fulton, Ill., Debbie Thompson, Clinton, and Barbara Hatherill, Hudson, Mass.; sons, Donald Jr., Waverly, Ala., and Douglas, Clinton; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Tillie, Clinton; a sister, Nancy Geary, Tulsa, Okla.; and brothers, Fred, Waverly, Ala., and James, Clinton.
