Josephine Costello 04/04/2000 CHARLOTTE, Iowa -- Josephine T. Costello, Charlotte, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. The Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Fr. Charles Fladung will officiate. No visitation will be held. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, is in charge of arrangements. Josephine was employed as a clerk at Bob's Superette, Charlotte, for 10 years, until retiring in 1985. Josephine Hansen was born April 30, 1918, in Charlotte, to Adolph and Mae (Collins) Hansen. Josephine married Ambrose Costello on Feb. 19, 1945, at Assumption Catholic Church, Charlotte. He died May 1977. She was a member of Assumption Parish as well as the Altar and Rosary Society of the parish. Memorials may be made to Assumption Parish. Survivors include a son, Ambrose Jr., and spouse, Shelby Costello, Moline; daughters, Kathy Darling, and spouse, Steve, Moline, and Mary Ellen Dietz-Edwards, and spouse, Dean, Lecanto, Fla.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild. sisters-in-law, Stella Hansen, Iowa City, and Lena Hansen, of Idaho; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Mary Clare Hanrahan, Charlotte. Josephine also was preceded in death by sisters, Eleanor and Carmella Hansen and Catherine Costello; brothers, Arthur and Leo; a twin infant brother; and a brother-in-law, William Costello.
