George Burke 02/18/2000 CHARLOTTE, Iowa -- Services for George M. Burke, Charlotte, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Petersville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a Scripture service at 8 p.m. Mr. Burke died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. He farmed in Charlotte for over 50 years. He also served as postmaster in Charlotte and was an agent and director with the American Mutual Insurance Co. and Grinnell Mutual. He was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Clinton. He married Jean Britt in 1950 in Welton. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mary Anne Braden, Eldridge, and Madonna Thines, Preston; sons, Don, Charlotte, and George Jr., Hopkinton; 11 grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Wendel, Bryant, Sister Mary Francis Burke, OSF, Clinton, Ruth Burke, Tuckerton, N.J., and Sister Donna Burke, OSF, Jesup; and brothers, Steve, Charlotte, Jim, DeWitt, Jack, Yulee, Fla., and Jerry, Tucson, Ariz.
