John 'Jack' Dermody 02/13/2000 CLINTON, Iowa -- Mass of Christian Burial for John J. "Jack" Dermody, Clinton, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Lemke Funeral Home, Clinton. Mr. Dermody died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at his home. He was employed in several leadership positions during his 33-year tenure with the Clinton Herald, including the past 10 years as publisher. He played key roles in Clinton's Downtown Partnership, by starting the "Community that Cares" project along with the Clinton Substance Abuse Council. He was born March 21, 1935. He married Catherine Boyle in 1957 in Clinton. He served in the Navy. Memorials may be made to the Jack Dermody Memorial Scholarship Prince of Peace Schools or the "Community that Cares Program. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lisa Gilbert, Minneapolis; a son, Stephen, Waukesha, Wis.; four grandchildren; and a brother, Dave, Davenport.
