James Tompkins 09/20/1999 CLINTON, Iowa -- James L. Tompkins, of Clinton, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was employed as a maintenance laborer at E.I. DuPont De Nemours Co., Inc., Clinton, for 30 years. He was born June 9, 1921, in Clinton. He married Marjorie Fulwider in 1949 in Tipton. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to V.N.A. Hospice, the First United Methodist Church, or the Camp Courageous. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, Clinton; a sister, Patricia Volckmann, Mesa, Ariz.; and a brother, Walter, Clinton.
