Marie Schmidt 05/24/1999 WHEATLAND, Iowa -- Services for Marie W. Schmidt, of Wheatland, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wheatland. Burial will be in St. Paul's Church Cemetery, Wheatland. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Chapman Funeral Home, Wheatland. Mrs. Schmidt died Saturday, May 22, 1999, at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness. She taught school in her early years. She was a graduate of Wheatland High School and attended Iowa Normal School (U.N.I.), Cedar Falls. She was a member of St. Paul's Church, Wheatland. Marie Kelting was born Sept. 1, 1908, in rural Wheatland, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Copp) Kelting. She married Michael Schmidt on Dec. 24, 1931, in Wheatland. He died May 2, 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Stoecker, Cedar Rapids; a son, Ronald, Aledo, Ill.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ellen Horstmann, Wheatland; Mildred Riedesel, Tipton; and Margery Wiebel, Lowden.
