CLINTON — Matthew R. Libby, age 39, of Clinton, died Monday, December 1, 2008, from injuries received in an automobile accident near Iowa City. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 20th, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. A memorial service celebrating Matthew’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m.Matthew was born in Clinton, Iowa, on May 18, 1969, the son of Richard and Sandra McClusky Libby. Matt graduated from Clinton High School in 1987 and attended Clinton Community College and Mt. St. Clare College. While at Mt. St. Clare Matt was a member of the soccer team. He was a painter with Local 676 out of Rock Island. Matt was a student of the game of soccer. He enjoyed the intricacies and skill of the game. His favorite team to watch was the Brazilian National Team. He played in the Iowa Games and had played indoor soccer in Davenport. Matt loved to go biking with his daughter Kharma. He enjoyed playing baseball, skate boarding and snow boarding. When the Children’s Discovery Center relocated Matt volunteered his talent as a painter. Matthew is survived by his daughter, Kharma; his parents, Richard and Sandra Libby of Clinton; a brother, Jeffrey Libby of Austin, TX; paternal grandparents, Robert and Betty Libby of Iowa City; uncles and aunts, Steve and Sharon Libby of Cedar Rapids, Jim and Pat McClusky of Clinton, Paulette Ezring of Ashburn, VA, Tom and Linda McClusky of Peoria, IL; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
