CLINTON — David Carl Pirch, 58, of Clinton, passed away on November 20, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Pirch was born on June 15, 1950, in Clinton, Iowa, to Erwin and Edith (Swanson) Pirch. He married Cheryl Mathis on March 15, 1979. Later Mr. Pirch married Roberta (Redmond) on September 11, 1997, and they had four children together. David was the youngest in his family of 4 brothers and a sister. Mr. Pirch attended Clinton schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1968. He joined the United States Navy and served four years during the Vietnam War. He followed his Navy career with the Naval Reserve. He had worked at various jobs including Clausen Hardware, Kmart, a family construction business and an auto parts store. David prided himself in his work ethic and his performance as he worked for more than 18 years for Drives of Fulton, Illinois. David can be remembered as an endearing fellow who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; a pleasant conversation, a laugh, a tasty home-cooked meal, a competitive game, video games, bowling, singing a karaoke, watching a movie or taking a walk. One couldn’t find a more loyal friend who was honest, generous and kind. He cherished his children, family and friends. David had been a member of Camanche and Clinton Jaycees and had walked from Clinton to Des Moines for Muscular Dystrophy in 1976. He enjoyed many years on local bowling league teams. His wife, Bert, and his three children, Jonathan, Alyssa and Jurgen Pirch, survive him. He has 2 brothers, William (Carol) Pirch of Dayton, Nevada; and Ray (Mary) Pirch of Camanche, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pirch was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Robert, sister, Joan, and his son, William. Visitation will be Sunday, November 23, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lemke Funeral Homes-South. The funeral services will follow visitation. Cremation will follow with burial being held at a later date at Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany, Illinois. Pastor Robert W. Barrick from First United Methodist Church will officiate.Death Date: Nov. 20, 2008
