FULTON, Ill. — Theodore “Ted” Koenes, 94, of Fulton, died Wednesday at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 15, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Machen Jr., Associate Pastor of the Church of the Open Door, Clinton, IA, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 14, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.Theodore Koenes was born May 19, 1914, in East Clinton, IL, the son of William and Katie (Huizenga) Koenes. He attended East Clinton Grade Schools in East Clinton. He married Corabelle Wilkins on Dec. 6, 1940, in Fulton, IL; she died March 18, 1980. He later married Jeanette Dykema on Sept. 1, 1983, in Fulton, IL; she died June 6, 2007. Ted worked for the Clinton Distilling Company of Clinton, IA, and then was at the E.I. Dupont Company in Clinton, IA, for 25 years, retiring in 1974. Ted also worked for the Civil Conservation Corps during the depression years. He was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL. Ted’s loves were his home, shop, garden, and family. He was greatly anticipating the arrival of his first great-great-grandchild. He is survived by one son, Gary (Priscilla) Koenes, Clinton; one daughter, Judy (Mrs. Richard) Smith, Fulton, IL; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Roger (Cheryl) Dykema, Sterling, IL, and Arlyn (Terry) Dykema, Chadwick, IL, and Gary Dykema, Savanna, IL; seven stepgrandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jane Koenes. He was preceded in death by two wives; two sons, Timothy Koenes and one in infancy; two sisters, Fanny Huff and Martha Parker; seven brothers, Ralph, Claus, Jacob, Fritz, Herman, Willis and Henry Koenes.
