CALAMUS — Elmer C. Ketelsen, 93, Calamus, Iowa, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa. On May 16, 1915, Elmer was born to Emil and Mary Andresen Ketelsen in Goose Lake, Iowa. Elmer was united in marriage to Lois Stutzel August 24, 1941, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. Lois died December 17, 1999. The couple farmed in McCausland and Calamus areas before retiring into Calamus. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound, Iowa. He was a member of the Lincoln Highway Association, Central Community Historical Society, Calamus Lions Club and enjoyed antique fencing. Survivors include his children, Elaina (Robert) Lomsdalen, DeWitt and Paul (Mary) Ketelsen, Grand Mound; daughter-in-law, Carol Ketelsen, Kent, Ohio; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; his sister, Vera Hansen, DeWitt and brother, Kermit (Judy) Ketelsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Patricia Jolene Ketelsen, son Weldon Elmer Ketelsen, and granddaughter Karen Margaret Busch. Funeral services will be 10:30 on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation will be 4:00 until 7:00 on Friday, November 14, 2008, at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
