CLINTON — LaVerne J. “Joe” Flynn, 78 of Clinton passed away in his home Thursday, November 19, 2008. Visitation will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. LaVerne James “Joe” Flynn was born in Sterling, IL on March 5, 1930 to LeRoy and Edna (Pascal) Flynn. He was a graduate of Fulton High School. LaVerne married Donna May Chiappetta on April 26, 1957, in Fulton, Ill. LaVerne served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed with the former Interstate Power in Clinton, Iowa, retiring in 1992. Surviving him are his wife, Donna of Clinton, IA; a daughter, Vicki (Wes) Long of Camanche, IA; two sons, Vinny (Tiki) Flynn of Clinton, IA and Vernon (Judy) Flynn of Milwaukee, WI; two grandchildren, Justin Flynn and Michael Rettkowski; two great grandchildren, Kaleb and Skylarr Rettkowski; six sisters, Lucille (Howard) Huggins of Mt. Carroll, IL; Lorraine Bailey of Mt. Carroll, IL; Lavonne (James) Williams of Rock Falls, IL; Arlene (Wes) Kimmer of Clinton, IA; Carol (Bill) Geopfert of Argyle, WI and Mary (Ed) Jacobsen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and three brothers, Frank Flynn of Clinton, IA; Mike (Louise) Flynn of Sterling, IL and Bill (Pat) Flynn of Milledgeville, IL. The family is establishing memorials.
