CLINTON — Gary D. Creecy, 58, of Clinton, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at his home after battling cancer for several years. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post 28. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Creecy Jr., Ryan Smith, Ian Creecy, Bill Stage, Ron Stage and Don Stage. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Burns and Jason Potter. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home Gary Dennis Creecy was born on October 29, 1950, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Charles and Joy (Hayton) Creecy. Gary was a veteran of the United States Navy. Gary was employed with Climax and International Paper. He was also employed in the maintenance department at the Cambridge Apartments. Gary was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed fishing and watching movies especially “The Wizard of Oz” and Judy Garland movies. Gary is survived by his wife, Susan Creecy; two daughters, Megan Creecy (Jason Potter) of Clinton and Shania Horton of Clinton; one granddaughter, Hailey Rose; four brothers, Charles (Susan) Creecy of Parkview, Iowa, Richard Creecy of Clinton, James (Jane) Creecy of Minnesota and Thomas (Elvira) Creecy of Clinton; one sister, Cheryl Smith of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Tony and Shawn. Memorials can be made to the family.
