The Clinton Herald Friday September 21, 1956 p. 15 Mrs. Pauline C. Nelson, 78, died in Dixon Public hospital Thursday evening after a short illness. She was taken ill while visiting relatives in Mt. Morris, Ill. The body is at the Snell funeral home where friends may call. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Immanuel Lutheran church. The body will be taken to the church at noon Saturday where it will remain until funeral time. Rev. Martin S. Bredow, pastor of Zion Lutheran church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery. Mrs. Nelson, a Clinton resident for 61 years, has been making her home, with her daughter, Mrs. F.D. Pietz of Hudson. Pauline Pierson was born May 1, 1879 in Sweden the daughter of Nels and Paternella Weston Pierson. She came to this country as a young girl. On May 1, 1897 she married Ernest Carlson who died Jan. 1922. She married Albert Nelson, dec. 17, 1923 and he preceded her in death in 1945. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church, the past president of the Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid, and an honorary member of the Zion Lutheran Missionary Society. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. F.E. (Adina) Pietz of Hudson, and Mrs. Joseph (Adella) Altman of Miami, Fla.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Henry (Hazel) Hayenga and Mrs. Edwin (Edna) Thurm both of Mt. Morris, Ill.; a number of grandchildren and one brother, Rev. Albin Nelson of Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
