CLINTON — Norma Belle Mortensen, 84, a long-time resident of Clinton, passed away in her home Wednesday evening, October 29, 2008. She died peacefully, as is deserved by all good people like her. Family and friends of Norma are invited to attend funeral services, which will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 1:00PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Clinton Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: David Hugunin, J. Brandt, Jeremy Von Thun, Kelly Mortensen, Kevin Mortensen, Brian Mortensen, and Rocky Newland. Norma was born on October 13, 1924, the daughter of Wesley and Sylvia Snook. Norma was the last of thirteen brothers and sisters to leave this world. She married Darell “Mort” Mortensen on January 12, 1943, in Sioux Falls, SD; he died on October 11, 1971. She was a Nurses Aide for many years at the former Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, and also in Sioux City, IA. In her time, she enjoyed the lives of her husband, her six children, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and the many relatives whom she cherished dearly in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area. Those who knew Norma will agree, the world is a lesser place for her passing. She is survived by her children: Wanda Brandt of Dewitt, IA; Jerry (Jeanne) Mortensen of Wilton, IA; Vanessa (Dale) Von Thun of Le Claire, IA, and Roxann (William) Wells of Marion, IA; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darell, her son James “Jimmy,” infant daughter Catherine, and 12 brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, Cedar Rapids, IA.
