DIXON, Iowa — Shirley M. Greve, 72, of Dixon, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Long Grove, 16550 290th Street (Long Grove/Parkview Exit 129). Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at the Runge Mortuary and from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Jim Diericx, Ed Neuleib, Jim Neuleib, Joel DeVrieze, Jay DeVrieze, Kirk Meyer, Richard Siemsen, and Bruce Walker. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Ann’s Church or the Dixon American Legion.Shirley was born February 23, 1936, in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of James and Mary (DeZutter) Appleman. She worked for Royal Neighbors of America prior to her marriage to Gerald L. Greve on September 2, 1967, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Atkinson, IL. Mrs. Greve has farmed with her husband, Gerald, for 41 years.She was a graduate of Atkinson High School in 1954. She is a member of the Dixon American Legion Auxiliary and St. Ann’s Catholic Church Long Grove, IA. She was very active with her grandchildren and attended many of their events.Survivors include her husband; sons, John (Lorri) Greve, Davenport and Michael (Deborah) Greve, Walcott; daughter, Mary (Craig) Temple, Clinton; grandchildren, Bradford Deck, Matthew Deck, Robert Greve, and Erika (Brandon) Bender; sisters, Carol (Roger) Hatfield, Pagosa Springs, CO, and Eileen (Gordon) DeVrieze, Moline, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents; second mother, Leona Appleman; brother, Robert Appleman; and sister, Janet Kibling.Death date: Oct. 26, 2008
