FOLLETTS — Katherine M. Fisher, 98, of Folletts, died Monday, October 20, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2008, at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in the Shafton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Fisher, Marty Gilbert, Fred Gilbert, Chuck Gilbert, Brent Fisher, and James Fisher, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gary Bailey, Don Fisher, Jr., and Virgil Fisher, III. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Katherine Mae Rayburn was born on September 29, 1910, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Helen Rayburn. She married Virgil Fisher on May 4, 1929 in Springfield, Illinois; he later died on October 5, 1989. Katherine was a waitress and cook for several restaurants in the area. She also was employed with Jim Walter Windows for 15 years. Katherine loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed cooking large family meals.

Katherine is survived by two daughters: Helen Cronk of Camanche, Iowa, and Marilyn (Vern) Stidham of Rock Island, Illinois; four sons: Donald Fisher of Clinton, Ronald (Marlyss) Fisher of Clinton, and Robert William Sumpter of California, and James (Kim) Fisher of Camanche; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Virgil Fisher, Jr., one daughter, Sandra McFate, and five grandchildren.
