CLINTON — Vera E. Epps, age 90, of Clinton, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at the Cemetery of the Pines in Bolder Junction, Wisconsin, at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Vera was born on April 4, 1918 in Parnell, Kansas, to Robert and Mabel Blodgett Volk. She graduated from Atchison High School, Atchison, Kansas, in 1936. Vera married John L. Epps on July 6, 1940, in Atchison. He died on February 14, 1993. They shared the same birth date for 53 years. Vera worked for many years for the American Red Cross. Upon her retirement she and John moved to Bolder Junction. They returned to Clinton in 1990. Vera is survived by two daughters; Jacqueline (Richard) Burlingame of Camanche and Judith (David) Lenson of Clinton; three grandsons; Richard (Peggy) Burlingame of Burlington, IA, Mark (Sheila) Lenson of Overland Park, KS, and Brent Burlingame of Camanche; four great grandchildren; Katherine Lenson, Katharine Burlingame, Nathaniel Burlingame and Lauren Lenson; a special niece, Kathy (Guy) Heyl of Littleton, CO, and a special nephew, Richard (Joyce) Volk of Salina, KS.
