DEWITT — Thomas Joe Anderson, 74, of DeWitt, died on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center DeWitt. He was born July 14, 1934, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Lloyd and Maxine Tilton Anderson. He was an Army veteran. On August 18, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mardella Westphal at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. Thomas worked as a machine operator and retired in 1994 from Dupont in Clinton, Iowa. Tom loved to fish, especially for walleye and trout, and also enjoyed golfing and hunting. He was a Vikings fan and enjoyed watching every sport. Thomas was a cornea donor to the Iowa Lions Eye Bank. Tom was a 25-year member of the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed going to their events. Tom was also a past motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mardella; their children, Michael (Lori) Anderson, Davenport, Iowa, John (Jennifer) Anderson, DeWitt, and Pam Anderson, Crowley, Texas; grandchildren, Josh, Whitney, Tayler, Jessica, Valerie and Allison. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Friday, October 24, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
