GENESEO, Ill. — Peter Rose, 90 of Erie, died Friday, October 10, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center, Geneseo. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Erie United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday at Gibson Funeral Home, Erie. Memorials may be made to the Erie United Methodist Church. Peter was born February 4, 1918 in Fenton, IL, to Peter and Winnie Huizenga Rose. He married Bonnie Freude on February 20, 1941 in Muscatine, IA. Peter worked for John Deere in the Foundry and Spreader Works in East Moline and retired from John Deere Parts, Milan in 1977 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Erie United Methodist Church and an active member of the UAW Local 79. Pete was a devoted fan of all Erie sports and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. Peter is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Rick Garrett, Erie; four grandchildren, Tina (Trent) Timmons, Shelly Motycka, Jon Cargill, Jason Cargill; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie on October 7, 2005; and two daughters, Faye Ann Rose and Marsha “Holly” Cargill.Death date: October 10, 2008
