DEWITT — Mr. Herbert Schnoor, 88, DeWitt, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, October 6, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt.He was born September 10, 1920, in rural Donahue, Iowa to William and Anna Schnoor. Herb married Arlene Dierksen, January 20, 1946, in Davenport, Iowa. In earlier years he farmed and was employed by Stolper Industries, DeWitt. He then owned and operated Herb’s Cleanup, a car detail shop in DeWitt.Herb was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan. He loved his family dearly and also had a love for automobiles.Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Arlene; children and their spouses, Ken and Connie Schnoor, Long Grove, Dennis and Janelle Schnoor, DeWitt, Karen and Jan Crist, Maquoketa; grandchildren, Richard (Kathleen) Schnoor, Michael (Candace) Schnoor, Melissa (Rich) Schumaker, Adam Schnoor, Brian (Charity) Crist, Amy (Nathan) Nissen, Marcus (Lyndsie) Schnoor, Kurt (Chrissy) Crist and Kelli Crist; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Margery Schnoor, Grand Island, Nebraska.Preceding Herb in death were his parents, six brothers and a sister.Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2008, in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Jeff Wartgow will officiate.
