CLINTON — Patsy L. Colson, 75, of Clinton, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the Church of the Open Door. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the church. Cremation will follow the services. Private family burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Patsy Lou Blount was born on April 13, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Doris (Handy) Blount. She married William Colson on November 26, 1949, in Clinton. Patsy was employed with the Clinton Community School District for 25 years working in food service at Jefferson Elementary School. Patsy was a member of the Church of the Open Door where she enjoyed small home group Bible study, sewing especially aprons, gardening and loved spending time with her family. Patsy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, William of Clinton; two daughters, Lona (Gordon) Friedlein of Stockton, Illinois, and Leah (David) Steinmann of Clinton, Iowa; two sons, Carlton (Pat) Colson of Davenport, Iowa, and Cory (Shelley) Colson of Princeton, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Bernice) Blount of Charlotte, Iowa; and two sisters, Doris (Jack) Lovell of Clinton and Donna Hart of Geneseo, Illinois. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Howard; and four brothers. The family requests that memorials be made to the Church of the Open Door.
