CLINTON — Harriet Kathryn Schroeder, 85, peacefully entered into her eternal rest Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at The Alverno. She was born on March 22, 1923 in Farmington, Minnesota, to Fred and Ann Paasch Mess. Her family later moved to the Calamus area. On April 21, 1941, she married Wesley L. Schroeder in Alexandria, Louisiana, and they settled in the Clinton area. Harriet worked at Clinton Garment Company, Burpee Seed Company and Clinton Community Schools, where she retired in 1986 as a cook at Whittier Elementary. She enjoyed gardening, polka music and dancing with her husband as well as following her grandchildren’s many activities. Harriet is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Wesley; sons Dr. Mark (Patti) and Morris (Sally) from Clinton, of whom she was very proud; the apples of her eye, her grandchildren Barry (Jessica), Albuquerque, New Mexico; Lindsay, Orlando, Florida; Bradley, Madison, Wisconsin; Ryan, Clinton; and the newest member of her family, 11 month old great-granddaughter, Lahna, whom she met for the first time in early September. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, three brothers and two sisters. All her family and friends will miss Grandma Schroeder’s abundance of Christian love, generosity and companionship. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton preceded by visitation starting at from 9:30. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
